WELCOME

The ECLECTIC COLLECTIVE led by Yves Vermeire, wants to introduce modern jazz to the large public. ECLECTIV is the perfect cocktail of accessible modern jazz, with a taste for innovating sounds, funky grooves and lots of energetic interaction.

This project was born in Ghent, Belgium, and consists of a unique collaboration between a dynamic rhythm section and 3 powerful horns. Expect a high level of innovation and challenging music!

MEET THE MUSICIANS

Piano - compositions - arrangements

Yves Vermeire (°1985) is a pianist / composer from Ghent, Belgium. He started playing music at the age of seven. After recovering from tendinitis in 2009 as a former bass player, he returned to the piano. Once Yves graduated with great honors as a pianist at the JazzStudio in Antwerp, he decided to study Jazzpiano @ The Royal Conservatory of Brussels and Ghent under the 'wings' of Christian Mendoza and Diederik Wissels.

Bass

Thibaut Talpe (°1994) is a bass player originating from Brugge, Belgium. At the age of thirteen, Talpe first strarted to play the trombone. After his first experiences in local projects, he advanced his musical skills and started as a bass player @ the Royal Conservatory of Ghent. Talpe took his inspiration from great masters as Nicolas Thys, Michel Hatzigeorgiou, Felix Pastorius. Nowadays, Talpe is finishing his studies under Janos Bruneel and is active on the international jazz scene.

Drums

Tom Peeters (°1995) is a young drumsensation from Vilvoorde, Belgium. He started playing drums at the age of seven. By growing up with masters as Wim Leo, Jean-Philippe Komac and Arnoud Gerritse, his style became more and more appreciated in the modern belgian jazz scene. Tom is currently graduating at the Conservatory of Ghent under the orientation of Toon Van Dionant.

Trumpet

Cedric De Lat (°1997) developed a deep affection for jazz music at the age of ten. He studied under the guidance of Lode Mertens and from that moment his musical life took a flight as he joined several local projects. Inspired by renowed artists as Woody Shaw, Freddie Hubbard and Bert Joris, he enrolled in the Royal Conservatory of Ghent.

Tenor Sax

Elias Storme (°1994) is a saxophone player from Ypres, Belgium.
After a five-year classical training, starting from the age of seven, his fascination for jazz started to grow. He studied @ the Conservatory of Leuven with Frank Vaganée and is now graduating @ the conservatory of Ghent, under Bart Defoort.
Storme followed masterclasses with jazz legends as Mark Turner, Chris Potter, John Ruocco, ... .

Bariton Sax

Jasper De Greve (°1994) is a saxophone player from Assenede, Belgium. After being exposed to jazz at the age of 8, he started his first lessons on the alto sax. When turning sixteen, De Greve continued his musical journey at the MUDA - Academy for jazz and classical music. In 2013 he entered the Conservatory of Ghent as a bariton player, guided by Bart Defoort. He attended masterclasses with Joshua Redman, Bob Mover, Chris Potter, John Ruocco, Gary Smulyan, Dick Oats.
